Tad and Elizabeth Joy are the driving force behind Fred Astaire Dance Studios Tampa Bay.
Their dance career spanned twelve years and culminated in three National American Smooth titles, together. They are both National and World Class Adjudicators and continue to coach across the country. In addition, they are the only NDCA-recognized adjudicators, competitors and coaches to own a studio in the Tampa Bay area. The have been impressively undefeated 3 times in the United States Smooth champions with Fred Astaire Dance Studios. Both born and raised in Tampa Bay, they have owned the Central Ave studio for 20 years and currently own the franchising company for the past 5 years. Their studio continuously ranks in the top 5 Fred Astaire Studios in the country. Their current and most important project is their daughter, Amelia, who danced her first recital at the age of four.

Tad is a 6-time National pro/am Rhythm Champion, a 4-time National pro/am Latin Champion and He was also a National Junior pro/am Champion. He has received 9 Freddy Awards, the top award given by Fred Astaire Dance Studios to an instructor and was named Top Pro/Am Teacher in the United States.

Elizabeth is a Southern States American Smooth Champion and an Undefeated Southeast States American Smooth Champion. She was awarded the John Monte Award of Excellence as a pro/am competitor. She has won numerous Freddy Awards and Manager of the Year awards throughout the years.
Bonnie MacKenzie
ASSISTANT AREA DIRECTOR OF TAMPA BAY AREA DEVELOPMENT, INC.
Bonnie began her career with Fred Astaire Dance Studios on 1983 working for the then franchising company which was owned by Tad Joy’s parents. In 2001 she became the National Competition Coordinator for the Home office organizing three national competitions a year. Additionally, she organizes several regional and independent competitions throughout the United States and Canada. She is also a certified Scrutineer (S3) with the National Council of Dance. Bonnie has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida.
